We're pleased to invite writers and readers to participate in the GuruFocus Stock-Picking Contest — a practical test of value investing skill focused on mispriced stocks with real upside potential.

Prizes

  • $50 for each valid submission accepted and published

  • $750 bonus if your submitted stock doubles (2×) within 12 months of acceptance and publication

A stock is considered a "winner" if it reaches 2× the starting price on a closing basis, or if a corporate action (spin-off, liquidation, special distribution, etc.) clearly results in a doubling of economic value.

Submission Requirements (≈ 1 page)

Limit: one submission per writer for the duration of the contest.

Each submission should be concise, focused, and written for thoughtful, long-term investors. Please include the following five elements:

1) Clear Thesis
  • What the company does

  • Why the stock is mispriced today

  • Why a 2× outcome within 12 months is plausible

2) Valuation Anchor

Use any reasonable valuation framework (P/E, EV/EBITDA, FCF yield, DCF, unit economics, asset value, etc.), but clearly explain why intrinsic value could reasonably be at least double the current price.

3) Catalysts

What events, developments, or mechanisms could unlock value over the next year?

4) Bear Case

Present the strongest opposing view. What could go wrong? Why might the stock not double?

5) Guru Activity

Include any relevant GuruFocus Guru trades or ownership data, if available.

Eligible Stocks

To ensure fair comparison and real-world investability, submissions must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum $100,000 average daily trading volume (last 5 trading days)

  • Minimum market capitalization of $50 million

  • Tradable on at least two major U.S. brokerages

  • Common equity only — No ETFs, ETNs, SPAC units, warrants, or binary biotech gambles

Performance Tracking

  • Starting price: the official closing price on the exchange you specify on the day your idea is accepted and published

  • Measurement period: 12 months from acceptance & publication

  • Writers may flag qualifying corporate actions; the editor will review and adjust performance where appropriate.

Contest Timing

  • Closed

  • Each submission is tracked individually for 12 months

We look forward to your ideas — and to seeing which stocks truly deliver.

May the best stock picker win.
