Synaptics Inc. (SYNA) has expanded its Veros wireless portfolio by launching its first Wi-Fi 7 systems-on-chips (SoCs) family tailored specifically for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The new product line includes the SYN4390 and SYN4384 chips, which boast impressive features such as up to 5.8 Gbps peak speed, 320 MHz channel bandwidth, and integration of multiple connectivity protocols.

The SYN4390 and SYN4384 not only incorporate Wi-Fi 7 but also Bluetooth 6.0 and Zigbee/Thread, supporting the Matter protocol for improved interoperability. This integration supports the burgeoning IoT ecosystem by providing high-performance, low-power consumption solutions suitable for a range of applications, including 8K video streaming, interactive gaming, security monitoring, and immersive AR/VR experiences.

According to projections by ABI Research, Wi-Fi 7 chipset shipments are expected to surpass 2 billion units annually by 2029, demonstrating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 56% from 2024 to 2029. This growth indicates a rising demand for advanced connectivity solutions across various industries. Currently, the SYN4390 is available for sale, whereas the SYN4384 is available in limited quantities for evaluation.

Synaptics’ innovative approach with these triple-combo SoCs addresses the challenges faced in the IoT market by reducing the system's complexity, cost, and power consumption, essential for space-constrained IoT devices. This strategic move positions Synaptics as a frontrunner in the competitive IoT connectivity landscape, aligning with the anticipated surge in Wi-Fi 7 infrastructure and compatible endpoint devices.
