Apple Inc. (AAPL, Financial) is undergoing a significant restructuring of its AI and machine learning division, according to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. The company is reallocating team members to different departments as it lags behind competitors in artificial intelligence advancements, including delayed AI functionalities in Siri. This move suggests the previous strategy of integrating its AI team, following the 2018 recruitment of former Google AI executive John Giannandrea, was unsuccessful.

Additionally, Apple is continuing the development of its smart glasses, now conceptualized as "Apple Intelligence" devices. These glasses aim to analyze the surrounding environment and provide information to the wearer but are not yet at a true augmented reality (AR) level.

In response to U.S. tariffs, Apple is prioritizing the production of iPhones in India to better serve the U.S. market. However, it is unlikely that every U.S.-bound iPhone will be manufactured in India before 2027.
