Samsung SDI, South Korea's second-largest battery manufacturer, announced plans to promote its latest energy storage system (ESS) battery products at a major European battery exhibition next month. The company will participate in InterBattery Europe 2025, part of the continent's largest energy industry event, "Smarter E Europe," scheduled to take place in Germany from May 7 to 9.
During the exhibition, Samsung SDI will focus on showcasing ESS technology designed for the AI era, introducing a range of next-generation batteries. Highlighted products include the new "U8A1" battery developed for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and the "Samsung Battery Box (SBB) 1.5." UPS systems are crucial backup solutions providing emergency power to facilities like data centers during outages. The SBB 1.5 enhances safety by using enhanced direct injection (EDI) technology to spray fire extinguishing agents directly onto battery modules, preventing overheating and heat spread.
According to the press release, Samsung SDI is the only Korean battery company to reach the finals of this year's Smart E Award.
