Motorola has introduced the latest version of its Razr flip phone, featuring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities powered by its own technology and that of several companies, including Perplexity, Meta, Microsoft, and Google. Like Apple and Samsung, Motorola emphasizes AI as a key selling point for its new phones. However, unlike these companies, Motorola integrates AI models and services from multiple vendors.

The new Razr models, including the Razr Plus and Razr Ultra, are reportedly the first phones pre-installed with the Perplexity AI application, a search engine and research tool available on web and app platforms. Additionally, these phones feature Google's Gemini assistant. According to Meta, Motorola's new phones will also come with the Llama AI model by default, and Microsoft's Copilot assistant will be included as well.

While collaborations between phone manufacturers and service providers are common, such as Apple's integration of ChatGPT with Siri and Samsung's partnership with Google for AI features in its Galaxy series, Motorola's approach of combining technologies from four different companies is rare. Notably absent from this collaboration is OpenAI. Motorola's North America Product Portfolio Manager, Allison Yi, stated that the company seeks technologies that excel in specific use cases and complement Motorola's proprietary AI.
