Google Ends Support for First-Gen Nest Thermostats

Google has announced it will cease support for the first and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats starting October 25. These devices, released in 2011 and 2012, will no longer receive software updates or support from the Nest and Home apps. However, users can still adjust temperatures and schedules directly on the device.

The company emphasized its focus on advancing technology and delivering cutting-edge features on its latest Nest thermostats. This decision affects users of the original devices, including those released in Europe in 2014.

Google also stated it will halt the launch of new Nest products in Europe due to the region's unique heating systems, which present diverse hardware and software requirements. Existing Nest devices will continue to be sold in Europe until inventory is depleted.
