North York General Hospital (NYGH) has made history by becoming the first hospital in Canada to migrate its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (ORCL, Financial). Completed in March 2025, this transition has resulted in significant performance improvements, including a 26% reduction in EHR transaction response times and a 40% decrease in login response times.

The migration to OCI enhances the security of patient data and offers scalable storage solutions, aligning with NYGH's mission to foster a digitally connected care community. The improved system efficiency allows healthcare providers to access data more swiftly, thereby improving care coordination and allowing more time to be spent with patients.

Leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's regional presence in Canada, NYGH benefits from built-in disaster recovery and failover capabilities, ensuring system availability and resilience. These enhancements enable more comprehensive real-time updates to patient records, strengthening communication across care teams.

"By moving our EHR infrastructure to the cloud, NYGH is embracing the most advanced global standard for managing critical health information," stated Duska Kennedy, Vice President, Strategy and Digital Health, Chief Digital Officer at North York General Hospital.

This strategic move not only increases IT efficiency but also supports Oracle’s (ORCL, Financial) vision of implementing innovative cloud solutions to improve healthcare delivery.
