Autoliv, Inc. (ALV), a global leader in automotive safety systems, showcased its latest innovation, the Omni Safety™ system, at the 2025 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. This groundbreaking system is tailored to enhance safety for vehicle occupants in reclined seating positions, a common feature in modern vehicles equipped with advanced driver assist technologies.
The Omni Safety™ system effectively addresses the critical safety issue known as 'submarining,' where occupants slip downward during collisions due to improper lap belt positioning. This integrated seatbelt and airbag system significantly reduces the risk of injuries to the head, neck, pelvis, and lumbar spine compared to traditional restraint systems. The system also complies with the upcoming CIASI 2026 safety standards.
Autoliv's executive vice president and chief technology officer, Fabien Dumont, emphasized that the Omni Safety™ system represents a major engineering milestone, achieved through thousands of simulations and tests to ensure seamless protection and comfort. This innovation aligns with Autoliv's ongoing commitment to redefining safety standards and saving more lives.
In 2024, Autoliv reported impressive financial performance, with sales reaching $10.4 billion. The company estimates that its products saved approximately 37,000 lives and helped prevent around 600,000 injuries during that year. With operations in 25 countries and 13 technical centers, Autoliv continues to drive innovation in the automotive safety sector, supported by a passionate team of 65,000 employees dedicated to quality and safety.
