VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN, Financial), a leading provider of internet infrastructure services, reported a rise in domain name registrations according to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief Quarterly Report from DNIB.com. By the end of the first quarter of 2025, total domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs) reached 368.4 million, representing an increase of 4.2 million, or 1.1%, from the previous quarter.

The combined total of domain registrations for .com and .net TLDs was reported at 169.8 million, marking a 0.8 million or 0.5% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. However, the year-over-year figures for these TLDs showed a decline of 2.6 million registrations, equivalent to a 1.5% decrease.

As of March 31, 2025, the .com domain base accounted for 157.2 million registrations, while .net reached 12.6 million. New registrations for .com and .net domains totaled 10.1 million in Q1 2025, up from 9.5 million in the same quarter of the previous year.

The report also highlighted growth in country-code TLDs (ccTLDs), which climbed by 2.1 million registrations, or 1.5%, compared to the prior quarter, reaching a total of 142.9 million. This represents a yearly increase of 3.4 million, or 2.4%.
