The Nasdaq Composite climbed 457 points, or 2.7%, to 17,166 points, while the S&P 500 Index gained 108 points, or 2%, closing at 5,484 points.
Technology stocks were particularly strong. Tesla (TSLA), Nvidia (NVDA), Amazon (AMZN), and Microsoft (MSFT) each advanced over 3%. Meanwhile, Meta (META), Alphabet (GOOG), and Apple (AAPL, Financial) rose between 1% and 2%.
Corporate earnings remain a focal point. IBM's (IBM) strong earnings report was overshadowed by a 6.6% drop in its stock price. Conversely, Texas Instruments (TXN) surpassed earnings expectations, resulting in a 6.6% increase in its share price. Procter & Gamble (PG) reported a 2% decline in third-quarter revenue, below expectations, and warned of potential price increases next quarter, causing its stock to fall 3.7%.
