Duke Energy (DUK) and GE Vernova (GEV) have announced a significant partnership for the procurement of up to 11 7HA natural gas turbines and associated equipment. This strategic arrangement, unveiled on April 24, 2025, is set to address the escalating energy demands driven by advanced manufacturing, the proliferation of data centers, and population growth.

GE Vernova will manufacture these turbines at their expanded Greenville, South Carolina facility, which is part of a substantial $600 million investment in U.S. manufacturing. Of this, approximately $300 million is allocated specifically to their Gas Power business. This expansion will not only boost production capabilities but also generate over 1,500 new jobs, implementing lean manufacturing lines to enhance efficiency and capacity.

Duke Energy plans to install the new gas turbines at existing facilities, leveraging current infrastructure and transmission capabilities. This approach is expected to reduce costs and accelerate deployment timelines, keeping customer costs low while securing reliable energy supply. The agreement builds on Duke Energy's previous acquisition of eight 7HA turbines, aligning with their integrated resource plans.

Duke Energy serves a diverse customer base across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, with substantial capacity in both natural gas and electric utilities. This partnership underscores the company's commitment to modernizing energy infrastructure and sustaining growth in one of America's largest energy markets.

This collaboration is also part of GE Vernova's wider strategy to support energy transition efforts, providing innovative and efficient gas-powered technologies that contribute to a more sustainable energy future. With a strong presence across 100+ countries, GE Vernova continues to lead in advanced gas turbine technologies, furthering its legacy of quality and innovation.
