Southern Company Gas, a leading energy provider, announced the election of Venessa Harrison to its board of directors, effective April 24, 2025. Harrison, the former president of AT&T's Southeast Coastal States, is recognized for her transformational leadership in infrastructure expansion and public policy within the telecommunications industry.

During her time at AT&T, Harrison managed approximately $2 billion in annual network investments, significantly expanding AT&T Georgia's fiber infrastructure to over 6.4 million strand miles and achieving nearly 100% wireless coverage across the state. She notably led the development of the North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN), a model for broadband expansion that has been adopted by other states.

James Y. Kerr II, Chairman, President, and CEO of Southern Company Gas, praised Harrison's appointment, noting her proven leadership and deep commitment to community engagement. Her strategic expertise is anticipated to guide Southern Company Gas (SO, Financial) in navigating the increasing energy demands across its service territories.

Beyond her role at Southern Company Gas, Harrison is actively involved with several prestigious boards, including the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and has contributed to the Atlanta Committee for Progress, the Georgia Historical Society, and the Georgia Research Alliance. Harrison holds a business administration degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Phoenix.
