Hologic, Inc. (HOLX) is set to present groundbreaking new research regarding its AI-powered mammography technology at the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) Annual Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The research, conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital, retrospectively analyzed 5,000 digital breast tomosynthesis screening exams performed between 2016 and 2019 using Hologic’s Genius AI® Detection 2.0 solution.

Among the 5,000 exams, 100 cancer cases were initially missed by radiologists but were later confirmed to be malignant. The study assessed whether the AI detection solution could identify these cases and its performance in detecting 500 cancers initially identified by radiologists. Dr. Manisha Bahl, Breast Imaging Division Quality Director at Massachusetts General Hospital, will present the study findings titled “Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Computer-Assisted Detection and Diagnosis for Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT): Characteristics of AI-Detected versus AI-Missed Breast Cancers.”

Hologic will also spotlight its new Genius AI Detection PRO solution, which enhances cancer detection by evaluating prior exams and providing an AI assistant with automated reporting and workflow features. This solution integrates a red-yellow-green color-coded system to streamline reading workflows and has demonstrated a reduction in radiologists’ reading time by up to 24%.

The company is hosting several informational sessions at the symposium, including an exploration of contrast-enhanced mammography technology and the integration of AI into mammography processes to enhance screening accuracy and early cancer detection. Mark Horvath, President of Breast and Skeletal Health Solutions at Hologic, expressed enthusiasm about the display of innovative solutions at the event, emphasizing Hologic's leadership in advancing breast health and improving care standards for women globally.

Hologic continues to be a global leader in women's health, committed to developing innovative medical technologies to effectively detect, diagnose, and treat health conditions worldwide. For more details on their breast health AI solutions, visit the Hologic website.
