Digital Realty (DLR) has announced the expansion of its Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute cloud on-ramp locations with three new additions in Atlanta, Brussels, and Vienna. This strategic development increases Digital Realty's total Azure ExpressRoute locations to 15 as part of its global PlatformDIGITAL® data center network.
Azure ExpressRoute provides secure, private connections that bypass the public internet, ensuring lower latency and reduced risk of network congestion for enterprises connecting to Azure services. This deployment is part of a growing partnership with Microsoft, aligning with recent expansions in Dallas, Amsterdam, and Zurich.
By enhancing its infrastructure, Digital Realty aims to support current hybrid IT solutions and future advanced AI capabilities, including features like Microsoft 365 Copilot integration. As a result, Digital Realty strengthens its position as a critical infrastructure provider, offering diverse interconnection services to meet the rising demand for hybrid cloud solutions.
These infrastructure improvements are expected to drive higher cross-connect sales and utilization rates, potentially increasing recurring revenues. Digital Realty continues to solidify its status as a pivotal hub for cloud adoption, underlining the appeal of its PlatformDIGITAL® and ServiceFabric® offerings in the evolving data center market.
