i-80 Gold Corp (NYSE: IAUX) has announced the appointment of Paul Chawrun as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective April 30, 2025. Chawrun brings with him over 30 years of experience in mining, with a strong background in gold mining operations globally.
Chawrun previously served as COO at Centerra Gold, where he oversaw improvements in safety standards, cost reductions, and operations start-up. His role at Teranga Gold involved transitioning the company to a multi-asset producer and managing mill expansion projects. His extensive experience includes technical and corporate leadership, enhancing operational efficiencies, and strategic project management.
The leadership change comes as Matthew Gili resigns from his position as President and COO of i-80 Gold. Richard Young, currently the Chief Executive Officer, will also take on the role of President. Chawrun, who holds degrees in Mining Engineering, Geology, and an MBA, will be instrumental in advancing i-80 Gold's projects in Nevada towards becoming a mid-tier gold producer.
