Dow Inc. (DOW, Financial) has announced a delay in the construction of its ambitious Path2Zero project located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. This decision comes as the company reevaluates its strategy in light of current market conditions.
The adjustment in the project's timeline has consequently led Dow to revise its total enterprise capital expenditures for 2025. The company now projects spending $2.5 billion, a significant reduction from the originally planned $3.5 billion.
Despite this postponement, Dow remains firmly committed to the Path2Zero initiative. The project is situated at an existing site in an area with considerable cost advantages. Once completed, it is expected to be a leading asset offering significant returns. Importantly, it will be recognized as the world's first facility of its kind to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions for an integrated ethylene cracker and derivatives plant.
