Rakuten Mobile Inc. and Cloudflare, Inc. (NET) have announced a strategic partnership to deliver Zero Trust security services as a managed service to corporate clients across Japan. Rakuten Mobile has become Japan's first Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) partner with Cloudflare, offering comprehensive security solutions to support the digital transformation of businesses.
Amid increasing hybrid work and a complex cyber threat landscape, Cloudflare's security infrastructure has been instrumental, blocking approximately 385 million cyber threats daily in Japan during Q1 2025. This collaboration is particularly focused on small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which often lack adequate access to cybersecurity resources.
Cloudflare’s Zero Trust security framework follows the "never trust, always verify" principle, providing continuous authentication and a secure network environment. Through this partnership, Rakuten Mobile can offer a complete package with its high-speed internet service, KOSOKU Access, facilitating easy setup and maintenance of corporate network security.
Tom Evans, Chief Partner Officer at Cloudflare, stated that the company provides a comprehensive range of security services through a unified platform, emphasizing the importance of partnerships like the one with Rakuten Mobile in extending critical security protections. The initiative is poised to empower businesses in Japan to enhance their security measures while managing costs effectively.
