Toyota Motor Corporation has announced an additional investment of $88 million in its West Virginia plant to assemble a crucial component for hybrid vehicles. This brings the total investment in the facility to over $2.8 billion.
The production of the hybrid drive axle is slated to begin by the end of 2026. This component is essential for hybrid vehicles as it seamlessly transfers power between the engine, electric motor, and wheels. Toyota plans to use this drive axle in future models of both Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
