  • UAE's General Civil Aviation Agency has approved design for the first hybrid heliport in Abu Dhabi.
  • Archer (ACHR, Financial) aims to complete the transformation in collaboration with Falcon Aviation by late 2025.
  • The project supports UAE's innovative vision in integrating advanced air mobility solutions.

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) has given the green light for the design of the country's first hybrid heliport at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, marking a significant milestone for advanced air mobility in the region. This new facility will cater to both helicopters and eVTOL aircraft, facilitating the introduction of commercial air taxi services in Abu Dhabi.

Archer (ACHR, Financial), in partnership with Falcon Aviation, is responsible for transforming the current helipad into a versatile hybrid heliport. The project, expected to be completed in the second half of 2025, is part of Archer’s larger infrastructure network in the UAE, enhancing the accessibility to key destinations like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat Island.

The GCAA has been instrumental in developing the world’s pioneering regulatory standards for hybrid infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of both helicopters and eVTOLs from a unified platform. These standards are on track to be finalized and published by July 2025, underscoring the UAE's commitment to leadership in global aviation innovation.

This initiative not only represents a leap towards sustainable and advanced air transport solutions but also highlights the UAE’s dedication to innovation in civil aviation. The transformative project is expected to leverage existing aviation assets, allowing for a swift and secure rollout of the infrastructure necessary for advanced air mobility.
