Allison Transmission (ALSN), a leader in the manufacturing of propulsion solutions, has been chosen to supply its 3040 MX cross-drive transmission for all three Indian Government-funded original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) involved in India's Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) program. This initiative is set to replace the Indian Army's aging BMP-II Infantry Fighting Vehicles with modern, domestically produced models, and involves the procurement of approximately 1,750 units.

Securing this contract positions Allison Transmission for a revenue opportunity potentially reaching several hundred million dollars over the next two decades. The 3040 MX transmission, developed on the X300 platform, offers advanced electronic system controls which enhance shifting, torque management, and obsolescence management. It is currently used in the U.S. Army's M10 Booker tank.

In support of the FICV project, Allison has announced its plan to double the size of its manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, in 2024. This expansion aligns with the Indian Government's 'Make in India' initiative, which aims to boost production capacities within the country and reinforces Allison's strategic growth and commitment to the Indian defense sector.
