Churchill Downs Incorporated (CHDN) has announced significant updates to its capital projects at the Churchill Downs Racetrack, focusing on premium venue upgrades. The company plans to renovate the Finish Line Suites and The Mansion with completion expected by April 2026. This project is estimated to cost between $25 and $30 million.
The renovation of the Finish Line Suites will modernize 15 suites on the fifth floor, increasing their capacity to accommodate 750 guests. Additionally, the Trophy Room behind the Finish Line Suites will feature an updated design and a new feature bar catering to over 300 guests. These upgrades aim to enhance the overall hospitality experience at the racetrack.
The Mansion, which offers an exclusive aerial view from its sixth-floor location, will also undergo refurbishments to improve its finishes and aesthetics. Built in 2013, The Mansion is considered one of the most exclusive areas of the racetrack.
However, CDI has decided to pause development projects for the Skye, Conservatory, and Infield areas due to increasing uncertainty around construction costs, influenced by tariff and trade disputes, as well as current macroeconomic conditions. CDI plans to reassess these projects as economic conditions evolve, ensuring a balanced approach between strategic investment and financial prudence during economic uncertainty.
