PonyAI (PONY, Financial) has introduced its seventh-generation autonomous driving system at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. The unveiling also marked the first public presentation of its Robotaxi lineup, developed in collaboration with automotive giants Toyota (TM), BAIC, and GAC.
This latest autonomous driving system is distinguished by its fully automotive-grade kit, designed to enhance the safety and stability of passenger experiences. The new system boasts a longer product lifecycle and incorporates significant cost reductions. Notably, the overall bill-of-materials costs have been slashed by 70%, including an 80% reduction in autonomous driving computation expenses and a 68% decrease in the costs associated with solid-state LiDAR, compared to the previous version.
Furthermore, the system's modular platform architecture ensures it can be easily adapted to various vehicle types. This versatility supports its application not only in the showcased Robotaxi models but also in future Robotruck services, underscoring the system's expansive operational potential across multiple transportation sectors.
