New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) has launched its new SAVEGREEN® Innovation and Training Annex in Atlantic Highlands, situated in Monmouth County, New Jersey. This center will act as a pivotal hub for expanding workforce development initiatives in partnership with Isles, Inc., a community development and environmental nonprofit organization based in Trenton, New Jersey. Through this collaboration, NJNG aims to deliver training in energy efficiency, end-use equipment installation, and building performance.

With energy-efficiency projects anticipated to surge by more than 35% in the forthcoming two years, NJNG's enhanced Workforce Development Program seeks to equip individuals in the industry with cutting-edge knowledge on energy-efficiency standards, techniques, and technologies. The program targets adult residents and customers within NJNG's service area, especially those from underserved communities, offering them increased opportunities and fostering skill development among trade professionals in the area.

The Innovation and Training Annex, outfitted with advanced high-efficiency natural gas equipment and various innovative technologies, offers eligible participants complimentary Building Performance Institute (BPI) technical training and certification, in collaboration with Isles’ Center for Energy and Environmental Training (CEET). This initiative underscores NJNG’s commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and reducing emissions while driving economic development and job creation in New Jersey.

Furthermore, the facility marks the state’s first installation of an Anesi gas heat pump, serving as a demonstration and educational tool for local contractors. This setup is part of NJNG’s broader initiative to promote innovative, cost-efficient, and low-emission energy solutions. The SAVEGREEN program, launched in 2009, has already assisted over 100,000 customers in implementing energy-efficient solutions tailored to their needs and budgets, propelling NJNG's continuous efforts toward community advancement and environmental stewardship.
