Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. (SPR) announced that John L. Plueger, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Lease Corporation, will step down from the company's Board of Directors, effective May 23, 2025, at the annual stockholders meeting. Plueger has chosen not to seek re-election after a decade of service in order to concentrate on his expanded responsibilities at Air Lease, following the retirement of executive chairman Steven Udvar-Házy.
Plueger remarked, "After ten rewarding years on Spirit's Board, I'll be stepping away to focus on my expanded duties as CEO of Air Lease Corporation following Steven Udvar-Házy's retirement." He expressed his appreciation for his time with Spirit and the collaborative efforts made with board members in critical decision-making processes.
Robert D. Johnson, Chairman of Spirit AeroSystems, acknowledged the significant contributions Plueger made during his tenure. He highlighted Plueger's pivotal role in steering the company through tough times and in securing the transformative merger agreement with Boeing. Spirit AeroSystems is recognized as one of the world's largest manufacturers of aerostructures, with operations spanning the U.S., U.K., France, Malaysia, and Morocco, focusing on manufacturing solutions for commercial airplanes and defense platforms.
