FMC Corporation (FMC), a leader in the agricultural sciences sector, has announced the appointment of Sara Velazquez Ponessa as the new executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary, effective June 1, 2025. Ponessa will succeed Michael F. Reilly, who has announced his retirement effective July 1, 2025, following 23 years with the company.

Reilly joined FMC in 2002 and has served as executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary since April 2019. His leadership was instrumental in transforming FMC into a focused agricultural sciences company through strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Ponessa returns to FMC with a robust background, having previously served as senior business counsel at the company from 2012 to 2018. She further honed her expertise as general counsel at Livent, managing the company’s 2018 IPO and its 2019 spinoff from FMC. Most recently, she held the position of vice president, general counsel, and secretary at Arcadium Lithium plc, overseeing global legal and compliance functions.
