D.A. Davidson & Co. has announced its role as the exclusive sell-side financial advisor in the sale of Stack’s Bowers Galleries to A-Mark Precious Metals, Inc. (AMRK). This transaction marks a significant move by A-Mark to expand its presence in the rare coins and collectibles market.
Stack’s Bowers Galleries, a heritage brand established in 1933, is recognized as the oldest rare coin auctioneer in the United States. The company operates two primary business units: an Auction Services unit that conducts in-person, internet, and specialized auctions, and a Dealership unit that maintains a sizeable inventory of rare coins and paper money for wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales.
According to Brian Kendrella, President of Stack’s Bowers Galleries, the merger with A-Mark is expected to enhance client services and drive accelerated growth. “D.A. Davidson played a pivotal role in supporting SBG through this sale process, culminating a long-term partnership,” Kendrella stated.
