Humble Design San Diego is set to mark a significant milestone by transforming its 500th empty residence into a fully furnished home for a local family emerging from homelessness. Scheduled for April 24, 2025, this event celebrates years of community collaboration and dedication in combating the homelessness crisis in San Diego County.

The beneficiary of this transformation is Mercedes, a resilient woman who, along with her family, has received extensive support from the Interfaith Community Services in securing housing. This initiative highlights the collaborative efforts with partners such as Independent Living Systems and Kaiser Permanente.

Established in 2018, Humble Design San Diego has assisted over 1,200 individuals, including more than 700 children and 60 veterans, through its transformative approach. A 2024 study by UC San Diego's Homelessness Hub corroborates its success, revealing that 98% of its clients maintain stable housing post-assistance—over ten times higher than the regional average.

The nonprofit's operations thrive on community donations of furniture and home goods, along with support from over 50 referral partners. Humble Design's national sponsor, U-Haul (UHAL, Financial), has been instrumental since 2016, providing crucial infrastructure and financial backing. U-Haul's involvement is part of its broader mission to facilitate self-reliance and stability, highlighted by its extensive national operations and philanthropic efforts.
