  • BlackBerry AtHoc achieves FedRAMP High Authorization, enhancing its position in the federal market.
  • Over 75% of U.S. federal government agencies use BlackBerry AtHoc.
  • Existing customers with FedRAMP Moderate can upgrade to FedRAMP High.

BlackBerry Limited (BB, Financial) has announced that its crisis communication software, BlackBerry AtHoc, has achieved the coveted FedRAMP High Authorization status from the Joint Authorization Board (JAB). This represents a major milestone for BlackBerry, which has been part of the FedRAMP program for eight years.

BlackBerry AtHoc is currently used by over 75% of U.S. federal government agencies for crisis communications and incident response, making it a principal tool in both security and operational resilience. The new FedRAMP High Authorization validates compliance with 421 federal security and privacy standards outlined in NIST SP 800-53, positioning BlackBerry AtHoc as a leading solution for protecting sensitive data.

This achievement is particularly timely given the increased cybersecurity regulations following Executive Order 14028, which has heightened federal requirements for data protection. The FedRAMP High status not only bolsters BlackBerry's market position but also provides existing BlackBerry AtHoc customers currently using FedRAMP Moderate authorization the opportunity to upgrade to the higher security level.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) served as the sponsoring agency for this authorization, underscoring the credibility and trust BlackBerry AtHoc holds within critical infrastructure agencies. BlackBerry continues to maintain its stance at the forefront of secure communications, ensuring that its offerings meet the highest levels of security, privacy, and operational flexibility.
