Toyo (TOYO, Financial) has commenced operations at its newly established production site in Ethiopia, marking a significant expansion for the solar energy firm. Having initiated production in early April, the company is set to deliver over 80 MW of solar cells to customers by the month's end.
With plans to increase production rapidly, Toyo anticipates that the Ethiopian facility will reach full operational capacity by May and June. At full capacity, the plant will produce between 150 to 200 MW of solar cells each month, meeting both external market demand and the requirements of Toyo's new module facility located in Houston, Texas.
This Ethiopian plant is a crucial element of Toyo's strategy to expand its global footprint, with plans to enhance its nameplate capacity at this site to 4GW. This expansion aligns with the growing demand from external customers and the company's own production needs.
