DENVER, April 22, 2025 — In response to rising cyber threats, Lumen Technologies (LUMN) has introduced Lumen Defender Plus, a network security solution developed in collaboration with Black Lotus Labs. This cutting-edge service aims to automatically prevent cyber threats at the network edge, using intelligence that protects Lumen's expansive infrastructure by tracking over 2.3 million threats daily.

Apex DataCom, a firm specializing in IT consulting, participated in a pilot program and reported significant improvements, including a 70-80% decrease in security alerts and successful blocking of nation-state brute force attacks. During a seven-day period, the system effectively blocked hundreds of thousands of threats on their 10-gigabit circuits, confirming its capability at an enterprise scale.

Integrated with Lumen Internet On-Demand, Lumen Defender Plus requires no additional equipment, facilitating a smoother adoption process. The solution offers a customizable web portal providing real-time threat monitoring, custom blocking rules, detailed reporting, and instant alerts via email or text, thus enhancing operational efficiency for security teams.

Looking ahead, Lumen plans to broaden the reach of Lumen Defender Plus by extending its services to Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) environments, aiming to protect more critical business connections effectively. The expansion underscores Lumen's strategic initiative to commercialize its internal security capabilities to meet growing enterprise demand for advanced cybersecurity solutions.
