AmeriServ Financial, Inc. (ASRV) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, posting a net income of $1.908 million, or $0.12 per diluted share. This marks a slight increase from the $1.904 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, registered in the same quarter of 2024.

The bank demonstrated increased operational efficiency, achieving a positive operating leverage with total revenue up and non-interest expenses down. Key contributors to this performance include a 13.5% rise in net interest income of $1.2 million, boosting the net interest margin by 31 basis points to 3.01%. This improvement stems from controlled balance sheet growth and effective pricing strategies amid changes in the interest rate environment.

In terms of balance sheet growth, total average loans grew by $34.8 million, or 3.4%, year-over-year, to average $1.065 billion in the first quarter. Meanwhile, deposits surged by 5.0%, reflecting the company’s successful business development efforts.

Despite these positive outcomes, non-interest income faced a 16.7% year-over-year decrease. This decline was largely attributed to a 12.3% drop in wealth management fees and a 21.7% fall in revenues from bank-owned life insurance, amid market volatility.

AmeriServ Financial’s board declared a quarterly common stock cash dividend of $0.03 per share, payable on May 19, 2025, to shareholders of record on May 5, 2025. This dividend represents a 5.1% annualized yield with a payout ratio of 25%, a conservative approach in maintaining financial stability.

Looking ahead, the company remains optimistic about the prospects for continued improvement in net interest margin and net interest income throughout 2025, as market conditions evolve.
