Ameresco, Inc. (AMRC), a prominent energy solutions provider, in partnership with Matchbook Learning Schools of Indiana, Inc., hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 3, 2025, to celebrate the opening of The Match High School and Career Center in Indianapolis. The event marked a significant milestone in a project valued at over $20 million, aimed at improving energy efficiency and resiliency at the educational facility.
The project, following a competitive request for proposals process, entrusted Ameresco with the design, engineering, and construction responsibilities. The new school campus features two repurposed industrial buildings at 1401 Indiana Avenue and 1141 W 16th Street, designed by DKGR Architects. The expedited completion of the career center in the summer of 2024 allowed the facility to welcome its first class of over 50 students for the 2024 academic year, with the main school building finalized by March 2025.
Among the energy efficiency upgrades installed by Ameresco are building automation controls, envelope improvements, insulated TPO roofs, and LED lighting. Furthermore, a 165KW photovoltaic solar system with battery storage is planned for installation later in 2025, ensuring the buildings' energy efficiency and supporting long-term cost savings.
The Match High School's career center will offer programs in construction trades, welding, engineering, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing hands-on learning opportunities integrated with advanced energy systems. The initiative aligns with Matchbook's mission to provide a clear pathway to success for every student, equipping them with the necessary tools for sustainable careers.
