  • StoneX is the only non-bank futures commission merchant (FCM) among the 11 CME-approved depositories in the US.
  • The approval enhances StoneX's global metals infrastructure across New York, London, and Frankfurt.

StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SNEX) has announced a significant achievement with its New York vault gaining approval from the CME Group as a Registered Depository for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium under COMEX and NYMEX contracts. This development places StoneX among an exclusive group of only 11 CME-approved depositories in the United States and marks it as the only non-bank futures commission merchant (FCM) to operate such a facility.

This strategic accomplishment enables StoneX to directly manage the delivery and storage of CME-eligible metals through its New York facility. The approval comes at a time of record-breaking physical metal inflows, with COMEX inventories exceeding 43 million ounces of gold in the first quarter of 2025. By expanding its capabilities, StoneX strengthens its global infrastructure, complementing its existing operations in London and Frankfurt.

The new status enhances StoneX’s vertically integrated precious metals platform by providing seamless, end-to-end solutions for institutional traders, banks, refiners, and bullion dealers. These solutions range from trade execution and inventory hedging to physical settlement, thereby simplifying the trading lifecycle for clients and improving market access.

Philip Smith, Chief Executive Officer of StoneX Group Inc., stated, "Our approval as a CME-Approved Depository is a natural extension of our long-term strategy to build a fully integrated global metals platform.” He emphasized that this advancement allows StoneX to better serve its clients on a larger scale, meeting growing demands with efficiency and reliability.
