Shanghai Electric (SIELY) has made a significant stride into the Middle East's renewable energy sector by forming two major partnerships. The company has secured a 2-gigawatt photovoltaic project with Masdar in Saudi Arabia and a comprehensive wind power agreement with the Mawarid Group in Oman. Both agreements align with regional energy transformation goals, namely Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Oman's Vision 2040.

The Sadawi photovoltaic project in Saudi Arabia, developed in cooperation with Masdar, spans 40 square kilometers. It is Shanghai Electric's largest solar EPC project globally, designed to generate over 6 billion kWh annually. This output will cater to the electricity needs of approximately 700,000 households while reducing carbon emissions by 3 million tons. The project utilizes advanced photovoltaic technology to maximize Saudi Arabia's abundant sunshine, a crucial component of the nation's National Renewable Energy Program.

In Oman, the collaboration with the Mawarid Group aims to harness natural resources and establish a local supply chain. The partnership includes wind turbine supply, technology transfer, and localized factory design, which are expected to promote long-term economic growth in the country. This project is poised to advance Oman’s clean energy transition, focusing on wind and hydrogen energy sectors while reinforcing China-Arab technical cooperation.

The strategic importance and industrial value of these agreements highlight Shanghai Electric's commitment to renewable energy. By focusing on technology exports, localized manufacturing, and multi-sector collaboration, these initiatives strengthen Shanghai Electric's role as a leading player in the Middle East's renewable energy market. The dual focus on solar and wind projects supports broader energy goals, reducing fossil fuel dependence and driving economic diversification in the region.
