Google is defending its corporate structure in court, arguing that maintaining its integrity is crucial for U.S. national security amidst rising global AI competition. This legal battle follows an August ruling that found Google monopolistic in internet search, marking a significant antitrust case since the Microsoft case over two decades ago.

The U.S. Department of Justice has proposed that Google divest its Chrome browser division and share search data with competitors. Google contends this would hinder AI development and innovation. The company is among several tech giants, including Meta and Amazon, facing antitrust lawsuits. Recently, Google lost another case regarding its role in the online advertising market.

Meta is currently in court with the FTC over alleged social network market monopolization, while Amazon faces similar accusations. Additionally, the FTC has sued Uber over deceptive billing practices.

The ongoing trial will determine the outcome of the August ruling against Google, with a decision expected in August. Google plans to appeal if necessary, arguing that the proposed measures exceed the court's scope and harm U.S. consumers and innovation.
