Walgreens (WBA) is urging the public to partake in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26, 2025. This annual event provides a safe venue for the disposal of unwanted, unused, or expired medications. With more than 1,500 kiosks conveniently located across 46 states and Washington, D.C., Walgreens promotes the safe disposal of prescription drugs, significantly reducing the risk of accidental or intentional misuse.

The service is offered free of cost throughout the year at Walgreens during regular pharmacy hours. Individuals can locate the nearest medication disposal kiosk using the store locator on Walgreens.com, utilizing the 'medication disposal kiosk' filter. In locations without kiosks, Walgreens provides DisposeRx or alternative disposal solutions for free at the pharmacy counter, ensuring all medications are safely incinerated at DEA-registered facilities.

Since the launch of its safe medication disposal program in 2016, Walgreens has successfully collected and incinerated over 6.5 million pounds of unused prescription medications. This initiative aligns with Walgreens' commitment to community health and safety, enhancing its role as a pivotal health destination in the U.S.
