Chevron Corporation (CVX) has announced the start of oil and natural gas production from its Ballymore subsea tieback project in the deepwater Gulf of America. The project, which was completed on time and within budget, is expected to produce up to 75,000 gross barrels of oil per day through three wells connected to the existing Chevron-operated Blind Faith facility. This development marks Chevron's first foray into the Gulf's Norphlet trend.

Located approximately 160 miles southeast of New Orleans in the Mississippi Canyon area, Ballymore is positioned at a water depth of 6,600 feet. The project boasts estimated potentially recoverable resources of 150 million barrels of oil equivalent gross. By leveraging existing infrastructure, Chevron reduces the need for new construction, lowering both cost and environmental footprint.

Ballymore supports Chevron's strategic target to achieve 300,000 net barrels of oil equivalent per day from the Gulf by 2026. Chevron holds a 60% working interest in the project, while TotalEnergies owns the remaining 40%. The successful launch of Ballymore is part of Chevron's broader strategy to expand its energy production capabilities in one of the world's lowest carbon intensity oil and gas producing basins.

"Ballymore exemplifies our commitment to producing affordable, reliable energy while minimizing environmental impact," said Brent Gros, vice president of Chevron Gulf of America. The project's cost-efficient and environmentally conscious design underscores Chevron's ongoing efforts to enhance shareholder returns.
