  • RTX's LTAMDS transitions from prototype to production after achieving Milestone C designation.
  • Plans to increase annual production from 8 to 12 units to meet global demand.
  • Poland becomes the first international customer, with 12 other countries expressing interest.

RTX Corporation's (RTX, Financial) subsidiary, Raytheon, has successfully advanced its Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) from the prototype stage to full production. This transition follows the achievement of the U.S. Department of Defense's Major Capability Acquisition Milestone C designation, marking a significant development in the system's deployment capabilities.

Having completed eight demanding flight tests, the LTAMDS has been officially validated as a program of record by the U.S. Army. This milestone signifies its readiness for deployment, supporting both homeland defense and expeditionary missions for the U.S. Army.

The company had previously delivered the first six units of LTAMDS to the U.S. Army under a contract awarded in 2019. With a current manufacturing capacity of eight units annually, Raytheon intends to ramp up production to 12 units per year to cater to increasing global demand. Two additional units are slated for delivery later this year.

In a strategic move, Poland has been announced as the first international customer for the LTAMDS system. Moreover, approximately 12 other countries have shown interest in acquiring the advanced radar system, signaling potential for an expanding international market.

The LTAMDS system boasts a 360-degree capability for integrated air and missile defense, addressing sophisticated threats and reinforcing RTX's position in the global defense sector.
