California Nanotechnologies Corp. (CANOF) announced the receipt of two substantial purchase orders from Oerlikon Metco and AbTech Industries, marking a significant step in its transition from research and development (R&D) to commercial production. The orders, valued at US$115,000, are part of Cal Nano's strategy to diversify its revenue streams through commercial production contracts.

The first purchase order involves cryomilling 930 lbs of specialty metallic powder for Oerlikon Metco, intended for advanced coating applications. Meanwhile, the second order requires particle size reduction of 8,100 lbs of polymer-based material for AbTech's water filtration systems. Both orders are expected to be delivered within the next two months, with the potential for ongoing contracts.

In addition to the purchase orders, Cal Nano has achieved ISO 9001 certification, highlighting its commitment to quality management systems across its Cerritos and Santa Ana facilities. This certification will enable the company to bid on a broader range of commercial production contracts and reinforces its status as a key player in the advanced materials manufacturing industry.

While the company reports a temporary slowdown in green steel R&D activities, which is expected to impact their first-quarter financial results for 2025, Cal Nano foresees a rebound in these activities by the end of the year. This transition aligns with Cal Nano's broader goal to firmly establish itself as a comprehensive manufacturing service provider, catering to both R&D and commercial production needs.
