- HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE, Financial) completes 100 MW data center in Paraguay, laying groundwork for significant hashrate expansion.
- The company plans to operate 5 EH/s in Paraguay with future scaling to 25 EH/s by Fall 2025.
- Debt-free growth strategy includes securing 4.3 EH/s of Bitmain S21+ miners through treasury management.
HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE), a leader in sustainable blockchain infrastructure, has announced the completion of the first phase of their Yguazú facility in Paraguay. This 100 megawatt (MW) air-cooled data center is supported by a 200 MW substation and is set to operate at a capacity of 5 exahash per second (EH/s) using next-generation ASIC miners.
Currently running at 200 petahashes with their proprietary BUZZ Miners, HIVE expects to have 8,000 BUZZ Miners operational by the end of April. The company is in the process of receiving new-generation Bitmain S21+ units, with over 20,000 units expected by the end of May.
HIVE projects that by the end of the second quarter of 2025, the facility in Paraguay will reach its 5 EH/s capacity, contributing to a total hashrate of 11.5 EH/s across all of the company's operations. The ultimate target by Fall 2025 is to achieve a 25 EH/s hashrate, which could potentially yield over 12 Bitcoins per day under current difficulty levels.
Demonstrating fiscal discipline, HIVE has secured deposits for 4.3 EH/s of Bitmain S21+ miners, achieving this expansion without incurring debt. This strategic approach sets HIVE apart from its peers, many of whom resort to financing to facilitate similar growth.
The newly completed infrastructure in Paraguay positions HIVE to significantly increase its operational scale, ensuring its place among the forefront of publicly traded cryptocurrency miners. Enhancing its operational capability, the company has welcomed Carlos Anibal Torres as the new Paraguay Operations & Project Manager, which further strengthens their leadership team in this critical growth area.
