NVIDIA's (NVDA, Financial) CEO Jensen Huang recently concluded his second visit to China this year. Despite earlier reports, his itinerary did not include a meeting with DeepSeek's founder. During his trip, he emphasized China's significance as a market for NVIDIA, particularly in light of the U.S. government's indefinite export controls on its H20 AI chips to China. Huang acknowledged the impact of these restrictions on NVIDIA's business but reiterated the company's commitment to optimizing products that comply with regulatory requirements and serving the Chinese market.

Huang met with Chinese officials who highlighted China's vast investment and consumption potential, urging foreign companies like NVIDIA to deepen their market presence. The visit comes at a critical time as NVIDIA's stock recently dropped 6.9% following the U.S. export restrictions.

In Shanghai, Huang discussed the city's development as a hub for integrated circuits and AI, key sectors for NVIDIA. He stressed the importance of cooperation and shared growth in AI development, reinforcing NVIDIA's dedication to the Chinese market due to its large scale and robust industry ecosystem.

Analysts suggest that NVIDIA might be designing new chips for China that bypass U.S. export controls, signaling the company's unwillingness to abandon this crucial market. NVIDIA's recent commitment to invest $500 billion in U.S. AI infrastructure further underscores its strategic balancing act amid geopolitical tensions.
