Apple CEO Engages with U.S. Officials on Tariffs Impacting iPhone Prices

According to the Washington Post, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently discussed the potential impact of tariffs on iPhone prices with U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross (Trades, Portfolio). Cook is also reported to have engaged in conversations with senior White House officials. Unlike other executives who have publicly criticized the President and his policies through national television shows, Cook has opted for behind-the-scenes discussions.

Last weekend, the Trump administration agreed to exempt electronic products such as smartphones, computers, and chips from the so-called "reciprocal tariffs," providing relief to major American companies, including HP and Dell. White House trade advisor Peter Navarro had advocated for maintaining these tariffs, but President Trump decided against it.
