  • The plant aims to produce up to 10 tons of Nd/Pr oxide over 10 months.

Rare Element Resources (OTCQB: REEMF) has announced a delay in the commencement of operations at its rare earth processing and separation demonstration plant located in Upton, Wyoming. The delay is attributed to the identification of necessary design and equipment modifications during initial shakedown processes.

The design and equipment review, being conducted in collaboration with UIT — a General Atomics affiliate — is expected to conclude by the end of May 2025. Following this, the company anticipates sourcing additional equipment and conducting further startup testing, with operations now slated to begin in late 2025.

Upon operation, the demonstration plant is projected to produce up to 10 tons of separated neodymium/praseodymium (Nd/Pr) oxide over a 10-month period. This output is intended to support ongoing discussions with potential strategic partners and offtake customers.

Simultaneously, Rare Element Resources is advancing the permitting and licensing activities for the Bear Lodge Project, with the objective of progressing both the planned mine and the processing plant toward commercial production. The Bear Lodge Project is focused on delivering essential rare earth products for technology, energy, and defense applications.
