- Cadence (CDNS, Financial) launches industry's fastest HBM4 12.8Gbps memory IP solution.
- The new HBM4 solution offers 20% greater power efficiency and 50% better area efficiency.
- Cadence's 12.8Gbps data rate is 60% faster than current HBM4 DRAM devices.
Cadence (CDNS) has announced the release of the industry's fastest HBM4 12.8Gbps memory IP solution to meet the increasing demands of next-generation AI training and high-performance computing (HPC) systems. This new solution, compatible with the JEDEC specification JESD270-4, effectively doubles the memory bandwidth compared to previous HBM3E IP products.
The key features of Cadence's HBM4 solution include a 20% increase in power efficiency per bit and a 50% improvement in area efficiency. Additionally, the solution doubles the number of input/outputs (I/Os) to provide higher bandwidth, positioning it as a market leader in performance with a data rate that surpasses current HBM4 DRAM device speeds by 60%.
The HBM4 solution offers a complete memory subsystem with a PHY available as a drop-in hardened macro in TSMC's N3 and N2 technology nodes, while the controller is provided as a soft RTL macro. The package includes comprehensive deliverables, reference interposer design, and LabStation software for rapid SoC post-silicon lab bring-up, simplifying integration and reducing time to market.
This strategic advancement aligns with TSMC's cutting-edge nodes, ensuring future-proof designs for AI accelerator chipmakers and enhancing Cadence's competitive position in the AI and HPC sectors.
