Micron Technology, Inc. (MU), a leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, has announced a significant restructuring of its business units to capitalize on the burgeoning opportunities fueled by artificial intelligence (AI) across various market segments. The reorganization will see the formation of four distinct business units, each specialized to address specific sectors within the AI landscape.
The new structure includes the Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU), focused on delivering memory solutions to large hyperscale cloud customers and high-bandwidth memory for all data center customers. Raj Narasimhan will lead CMBU as Senior Vice President and General Manager.
The Core Data Center Business Unit (CDBU) will cater to OEM data center customers, providing both memory and storage solutions. Jeremy Werner, as Senior Vice President and General Manager, will head this division.
The Mobile and Client Business Unit (MCBU) is tasked with servicing the mobile and client sectors, with Mark Montierth at the helm as Corporate Vice President and General Manager.
Finally, the Automotive and Embedded Business Unit (AEBU) will focus on the automotive, industrial, and consumer market segments. Kris Baxter will lead this unit as Corporate Vice President and General Manager.
Micron's reorganization is slated for completion by early fiscal Q4 2025, with the transition beginning on May 30, 2025. The company will start reporting financial results under the new structure in the same quarter. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing Micron's market focus, aligning its resources to foster deeper customer engagement and drive innovation.
