Kosmos Energy (KOS, Financial) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully loading the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project, situated offshore Mauritania and Senegal. The inaugural shipment, consisting of approximately 174,000 cubic meters of LNG, was loaded onto the 'British Sponsor' LNG carrier from Golar LNG's floating vessel, positioned 10 kilometers offshore.

This achievement comes after the project's initial gas production in late 2024 and the commencement of LNG production in February. The floating LNG vessel is designed with a nameplate capacity of 2.7 million tonnes per annum, underscoring its strategic importance in meeting global energy demands.

With the first cargo successfully transferred, Kosmos Energy and its partners have begun recognizing revenue from the project. A second LNG carrier is already waiting near the hub terminal, preparing for the next cargo lifting. This development marks Mauritania and Senegal's emergence as gas-exporting nations, highlighting the project's role in their economic growth and energy sector expansion.
