The April Harvard CAPS / Harris poll, conducted by Stagwell (STGW, Financial), reveals that President Donald Trump's overall approval rating stands at 48%, with particularly high support for his immigration policies (51%) and efforts to reduce government costs (50%). However, his handling of inflation and trade policy is viewed less favorably, each receiving a 41% approval rating.

The poll indicates a mixed economic sentiment among the public. While 39% of voters believe the country is on the right track, a significant 45% report a decline in their personal financial situations. Additionally, 39% of respondents expect an economic downturn in the coming year.

Regarding trade policies, 47% of voters oppose Trump's tariff strategy, though 48% believe the policies require additional time to demonstrate effectiveness. Furthermore, 84% of voters support free trade, with 78% perceiving it as advantageous to the U.S. economy.

A majority of voters express support for significant government spending cuts, with 67% endorsing a reduction of $1 trillion in expenditures. However, 57% doubt the feasibility of achieving this goal by year-end. On international matters, 71% of voters support the destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities, yet 60% favor opening direct negotiations with Iran, despite skepticism that a deal will be reached.

The survey was conducted online within the United States from April 9-10, 2025, among 2,286 registered voters, and reflects ongoing public sentiment across various political and economic issues.
