Anthropic is introducing two new subscription plans for its Claude chatbot, stepping into the premium AI space shortly after OpenAI launched a $200-per-month plan for ChatGPT.

The new Claude Max plans are priced at $100 and $200 per month. Anthropic said the $100 tier is designed for people who use Claude regularly for a range of tasks, while the $200 option is better suited for those who depend on the chatbot daily.

The subscription launch follows February's release of Claude 3.7 Sonnet, which the company described as the first hybrid AI model. The update blends strengths from earlier versions to offer more reliable responses and stronger reasoning.

Anthropic is also looking to raise $2 billion in fresh funding, Bloomberg reported. The new round could value the San Francisco-based company at $60 billion, showing just how much investor interest in advanced AI tools is growing.

Amazon (AMZN, Financials) has already poured $4 billion into Anthropic, including a $2.75 billion investment made in March. Google and Salesforce (CRM, Financials) have also backed the company, as tech giants race to grab a piece of the booming AI sector.

The shift to paid plans mirrors what others in the space are doing. OpenAI, backed by Microsoft (MSFT, Financials), recently rolled out a $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro plan with expanded access to its latest model, aimed at professionals and power users.

With these moves, Anthropic is clearly gearing up for the next phase of competition in AI—one where capabilities matter, but so does a solid business model.
