U.S. Rig Count Decreases as Oil Drilling Slows

The U.S. witnessed a slight drop in active drilling rigs this week, falling by one to 592, marking the first decrease in three weeks, according to Baker Hughes. This brings the total number of rigs 5% below the count from a year ago. Oil-focused rigs dropped by two to 484. Meanwhile, gas rigs saw a minor uptick by one, reaching 103. In the Permian Basin, oil rigs fell by three to 294, while counts in the Eagle Ford and Williston Basin remained unchanged.
