Japanese Auto Stocks Plunge Amid U.S. Tariff Concerns

Japanese automobile stocks experienced a significant decline following the announcement by U.S. President Trump of a planned 25% tariff on imported cars. This move has raised concerns among investors about the potential impact on the auto industry.

Nissan's stock saw a drop of up to 3.5%, while Honda's shares fell by 3.1%. Toyota's stock was down by 4%, and Subaru faced a sharp decline of 6%. The overall transport index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange continued its downward trend, falling by 2.7%.

The announcement also affected South Korean automaker Hyundai, whose stock decreased by 3.4% in response to the tariff news.
